Banchory-Excaliber Elite 11-78 and Banchory-Excaliber Ecstasy 11-78 :
These two bitches were littermates, both blue merle, white and tan, whelped July 20, 1976 and bred by D. and S. Lupo. Their dam, Excaliber Turn 'Em On (1-77; whelped Aug 29, 1975) , had also been bred by D. and S. Lupo, but their maternal granddam, Banchory Blue Velvet (3-76, birthdate Sept 18, 1974, by Ch Banchory Thunder Blue ROM ex Banchory Born Free II), had been bred by P and D. Tidswell (Donna was then Mrs. Tidswell). The 2-79 Stud book included the registration of a bitch (later cancelled) named Banchory The Blues Queen, allegedly a blue merle littermate of Banchory Blue Velvet and then owned by C. and D. Harden. Then in 8-79 Banchory Act Three (also later cancelled) appeared, allegedly whelped September 7, 1975 by Ch Cherden Sock It To 'Em CD ROM ex Banchory the Blues Queen and bred by C and D Harden. Finally, Banchory Orchid Blue and Banchory Iris Blue appeared in the 10-79 Stud Book, allegedly blue merle littermates, whelped Sept 17, 1976 and bred by C. and D Harden. They appear as by Ch Banchory Thunder Blue ROM ex Banchory Act Three. The apparent pedigree, then, with the dogs later cancelled in italics, is:

The AKC eventually decided that the bitch reregistered and bred from as Banchory Orchid Blue was in fact Banchory-Excaliber Elite and the bitch reregistered and bred from as Banchory Iris Blue was in fact Banchory Excaliber Ecstasy. (As I recall, sorting out which bitch was which was one of the problems that spread the publication of the corrections out so long.)
