History

China Clipper o'Page's Hill ROM was whelped June 13, 1936 from the mating of Ch Mowgli ROM with Pandora o'Page's Hill. He was officially bred by William W. Gallagher, though Nate Levine, the Page's Hill kennel manager, was probably the person responsible for the breeding. He does not appear to be a particularly impressive dog in his photographs compared with others that had much less influence on the breed, but he seemed to sire better than himself. According to Lynette Saltzman's article on Page's Hill in the 1985-86 ASSA Handbook, he was one of several oversize dogs used in the Page's Hill breeding program.

China Clipper was inbred to a striking extent. Note that Ch Wee Laird o'Downfield was a full sister to Downfield Grethe, and a half sister on the sire's side to Natalie of Clerwood. He is Line CHE Part IIa and Family 6.
